At what age roughly does this behaviour stop and they demonstrate more advanced use of objects? DD still won't put anything into a container or use things for closer to their intended purpose and just bangs everything together.

What age is she and do you do the tasks whilst sitting playing with her so that she learns how to do these things?

9 months. And yes I spend all of her wake windows that we don't go out for sitting playing with her, doing the same actions over and over again.

That seems developmentally right for a 9 month old. They will start to put things in at around 12 months give or take

At nine months that’s completely normal. Banging things and putting things in their mouth.
