Savings for children.

Hi Mumsnet, my husband and I put a certain amount into our children's savings accounts every year. Once they reach the ripe age of 18, this will be a substantial amount of money but we talked about it last night and I am not sure when to actually give it to them.

If you saved for your children, when did you give it to them and did they have free reign on what to do with it or were there conditions?

We kept their child trust funds going so they will automatically get it when they are 18 but we have already talked to them about saving it til after uni for a house or something. So hopefully they will leave it untouched til they need something big.
