Should a 4 week old have a bedtime?

Hello,
sorry for the silly question! But should I start putting my 4 week old into a bed time routine? Some nights I’m not taking him up until his last feed at midnight and then he wakes again at 3ish and we get up for 6.
he sleeps well in his next to me when we go up. I was just wondering what everyone else does?x

Do what works for you! 4 weeks would be very early to get into a routine.

No, at that age mine were still in the Moses basket in the lounge with us

At that age we just had our baby downstairs in the Moses basket/sleeping on us til we went up to bed. It worked well for us. Didn't really start with a 'routine' til baby was about 4 months to be honest. She's 6 months old now and bedtimes can vary between 7.30 and 9 depending on naps during the day. We do tend to do bath, feed, book and then sleep (we've done this since she was about 4 months).

We had baby down with us until we went to bed until she was 4months then started a gentle routine but do what's right for you x

You have to keep them in the same room as you at that age. Plus mine all wanted to breastfeed all evening Grin so I just sat on the sofa with them watching TV and went up to bed together.

I started to get a routine/bedtime around 4-6 months.

I didn't with my DS (firstborn) but I started a little bedtime routine with my second (DD) around that age. DD ended up a much better sleeper but it could be coincidence. Bathed her (every other day), skin cream, fresh nappy and babygrow, read quick story, sing a lullaby and feed to sleep.

Meant to add she was still with me in the living room at that age but we still did a mini routine.

Kept both children in the living room with us til maybe 4 months or so when they started being disturbed by the lights and noise. Both of mine got themselves into a routine form 4 months on without much input from me

I have a 6 week old and he just chills downstairs with us until we go up, which is whenever he wants his last feed, usually around 11. With my first baby I started a bedtime routine around 5 months so I’m quite relaxed about my newborns sleep routine until then.
