Ear infections or maybe not?

Hey everyone, I’m new here! I’ve come looking for some info/advice.

My littlest is 13 months now. When she was 11 months she got a right ear infection. It was a bad one, perforated eardrum, greeny discharge coming out her ear, temperature etc. this went on for 4 weeks. It took 3 courses of antibiotics to clear it. Before the 3rd course kicked in her left ear started with discharge but the 3rd course cleared that up. Great! She had her eardrums checked a week or so after the infection had cleared and I was told they looked fine.

Fast forward only over a month since getting rid of it. Her right ear starts getting discharge again. Not as bad as the first time but it looks similar in colour. No temperature this time. Doc said because no temp then it’s not an active infection. This went on for over a week and seemed to be getting worse so I took her back. They’ve swabbed it which I’m waiting results for and they’ve given her antibiotics incase it is an infection. She said if it’s not an infection they’d refer her to ENT as she’ll probably need the fluid suctioned out and they can have a proper look in her ear. If it is an infection the antibiotics will work and they won’t refer to ENT unless she gets another infection after this. So we started the antibiotics on Friday. On Saturday her left ear now has discharge coming from it. I honestly don’t know what’s going on.

Has anyone been through anything similar? If it’s not an infection what could it be? I don’t know why it’s affecting both her ears!

Sorry for the long post. There’s a lot of info 😅

This was my daughter at 14 months! In the end I asked for ENT referral as was worried about glue ear but we tried ear drops and cranial osteopath and that cleared it all up and (touches wood) no ear infection since! And she has had loads that went on for ages and kept perforating!! Good luck!

Thanks for replying! So did she end up seeing ENT? Did they discover anything? Which ear drops did you use? An osteopath is a good shout, I’ll try this, thank you!
