7month old swollen side of face, stopped eating solids and sweating when asleep

Hi mum's,

I'm really hoping I can gather some points of views, experiences or advice.

My lo is 7.5 months old, we had been steadily weaning for 3 weeks ish. Having tried 2 times before but having experienced some unsettledness to some foods. Lo has a cmpa so we had taken it slow, trying new foods every 3 days. Lo really enjoyed food and eating but about 10 days ago she stopped opening her mouth and lacked interest. At the time she was at the end of a minor cold so put it down to this. However we are about 4 days post recovery and she's still not interested.

5days ago I noticed swelling to the left side of her face where her temple is next to her eye. I gave it the benefit of the doubt that she may have hit herself with a toy but 5 days later its the same. Around this time although lo has always been a sweaty baby, I noticed she was sweating more when being settled to sleep in my arms.

I took her to the gp the day after the swelling appeared and was told although its slightly swelled the gp isn't worried. They said regression in weaning is normal and that babys can be sweaty and get more sweaty and that too is normal.

I then ended up at a and e on day 3 as my hv suggested it. The pediatric Dr there basically mirrored what the gp said and even stated to him there is no swelling. Even though the swollen sode is firmer than the other side.

My anxiety is getting the better of me, can anyone share their experiences or advice on what one would do in my situation. Tia x

Are you able to share a picture. Perhaps block out her facial features so it's not identifying but it's very hard as 'swelling' varies a lot.

It's hard to see in a pic but the arrow is where I mean and it's firmer in that side.

I would just monitor... if your concerned still ask GP to refer to paeds doctor for an opinion.

Hi @Anxiousmummy23 could these three things just be totally random, I mean not connected?

I understand it's normal during weaning for babies to have periods where they're not as interested.
Regarding the sweat issue - are you dressing your baby too warmly? What's the night time room temp? My baby is definitely warm blooded so we just dress and heat ( or not) accordingly.

Just a though!

@Guavafish1 how long would you monitor for. We did see a pediatric Dr at a and e who told me this wasn't swollen. However we are seeing her pediatric consultant this coming week so I will mention it then. If she had hit herself with a toy surely 6 days later the swelling would have settled. X

@Batbatbatty yes I understand the same its the swelling that's really worried me tbh. The sweating I understand can be normal why they are little. I just don't get the swelling x
