My toddler has a fever and is coming down with something.

I have a 6 day old baby. I’m so scared she’s going to get sick.

Please tell me experiences where everything has been ok.

What should I be looking out for with baby? Monitoring temp?

Do you breastfeed? If you do keep breastfeeding her. Hopefully she doesn't get it but If she does she'll be fine. X

Just check her temp If she starts to feel warm x

My sympathies OP, 6 days post-partum is a terrible time to be trying to be sensible and rational, I was still crying for no reason at that age with both of mine.

Baby will still have loads of your antibodies on board and may well be more resilient to some viruses at this age than they will in a few months. There’s a good chance they won’t catch it, even better if you’re breastfeeding.

Keep an eye on their feeds, wet and dirty nappies. If there’s an issue there, or they seem extra sleepy, have a lower threshold for seeking help than you would for a bigger baby. Unfortunately at this age they take get a fever seriously, so if baby gets a temp you should probably just go to A&E. But I really doubt that will happen!
