Hi everyone
so my lg has been toilet trained for a while now , at the time she started to withhold her poos and holy lord it was awful the stress we both went through was unbearable .
shes been fine since Xmas no daily movicol no nothing ....
recently started nursery and here we are again .... no poo in a week ...
screaming dancing about and just will not push .

I don't know why but I feel so so stressed out with it all ...

has anyone had their child go back the way with pooing ?
if so please help
we've tried lactulose and movicol alone the past two days and nothing is helping !

we've used all the usual books poo in the zoo poo goes to poo land

I know this will pass but right now for my sanity I need to know I'm not alone ...

My daughter went through this after a bout of dehydration.

We used stickers a lot as a positive reward.

I'm ashamed to say though that what finally cracked it was getting cross. We cancelled Father Christmas unless she started doing her poo in the toilet.

This was really hard and I wouldn't have done it for my older child. It worked for my daughter though as she wanted Xmas presents more than she didn't want to poo.

This is not a threat I'd make lightly though.

That sounds really stressful for you both.
Sorry I don't have all the answers you need but my niece went through this so I know what a worry and distress it is. (She's 18 now and fine!)
Could you try giving her a warm relaxing bath when she gets home from nursery, she is likely holding on while there due to the unfamiliar environment and a relaxing bath helps the necessary muscles unclench and helps things along by helping the muscles and being soothing of the area.
Make sure she's eating apples, pectin in apples has a stabilizing effect on poo firmness, makes too soft a bit former and makes hard poo soft and comfortable to pass.
Good luck

Thanks for your reply's ..
we have a poo chart lolly pops for rewards bad I know but that's what worked x

she literally has an apple every day it's her fav fruit , we made smoothies the lot god knows how she's holding on to it because I wasn't lol!

I do know this will pass but the screaming and the dancing about gets to me so much and also back to feeling trapped at home .

I do think it's the shift with going to nursery but I feel I am going mad with it :( xx

I'm not sure I have any advice as such but I've been where you are & I completely understand the stress, I almost had a mental breakdown with my DD withholding. I remember not being able to go anywhere because she couldn't move off the sofa. It's so hard. Can you up the movicol sachets at all? Or is she on max dose now? I bought lots of little toys, wrapped them up & she got one after going. I did have to keep up the movicol for quite some time after we got into a decent routine.

She's only just back on movicol so 3 a day the gp said ...
