Vaccination Lump 9 Months Later

Hi All,

My little girl still has a noticeable lump in her leg from her 16 week injections. She's over 13 months old now. I did take her to the GP who has referred her for ultrasound. GP doesn't think it's from vaccines because its too low down on her thigh. Spoke to a dermatology consultant (she has birthmarks) during an appointment and she thought it was the vaccines or an underlying issue with her birthmark.

I only noticed it again round christmas time, I swear it wasn't there the whole time since her vaccines at 16 weeks. But now am doubting myself.

Has anyone noticed the post vaccine lump sticking around a long time? Its a rock hard lump which doesn't move. It's deep in her leg but I think it's getting bigger.

I can still feel the lump on one of my DD's legs from her jabs, she did end up having one of them twice as when they put it in the first time she kicked it out so I've put it down to that as it's probably hit something when she's kicked out- it doesn't bother her at all though and you can press it and it's not painful for her x

Can I ask how long ago you DD got her vaccinations? My LO seems to be sore when the lump is touched. But only when being firm (i.e. the doctor checking it she screamed the place down)

I'm sure it was from her 16 week one. Oh no bless her, I've just put it down to the injection just hitting a certain area or something but glad you're getting it checked. My DD has her 1 year jabs in a couple of weeks so I'll ask about it then just to make sure it's not something she needs checking further

Rule out anything else. if the vaccine was not administered deep enough or in the correct place it can cause a lump, not ideal. Might also mean baby has not had an adequate amount of vaccine.

Yeah I had assumed it was vaccine related, her gp (who gave her the 16 week vaccinations) was the one who said it wasn’t likely! It’s right above her knee, her vaccines went in closer to her hip. At least he’s referred her for ultrasound so we’ll soon know for sure.

Yes I brought it up at 1 year vaccines too! With my daughters birthmark and complications, she sees the best dermatologists in the country and they advised ultrasound, but as long as they are not bothering them I’m sure they’ll go away on their own.
