Can anyone advise if single parents who are teachers can take time off to attend school meetings/plays for their own child, or to attend hospital/doctor/dental appointments for their own child? My ex is a teacher and works full time with no compromise. I work part time and do all the pick ups, drop offs, family admin, all appointments etc, and he does none because, he says, “I’m a teacher and I can’t take time off.” I would just like to know how strict this actually is. There must be other teachers who are single parents. Do they skip all their kids’ plays/meetings and never take their kids to the dentist?
