Do they sleep through the night?

If not, how often do they wake up?

Sounds like a dream. My 2 year old sleeps from 9/9.30-3/4 and then wakes a few more times. Sometimes he wakes at midnight.

Almost 2 year old here - sleeps through 7.30 to 7.30am (or thereabouts) daytime nap is usually short, around 45 minutes to 1 hour and occasionally 1.5 hours when he's at home (not at nursery) and particularly tired

She goes to bed around 730pm, sleeps until about 8am if the other noisy kids don't disturb her. Sometimes wakes in the night but usually only if she kicks her blanket off and is cold or if she drops one of the many essentials she must have for sleeping (Teddy, specific knitted holey blankets, dummy etc)

StillMissV · 05/02/2023 22:44

Mine are older now but at 2, my son was still waking every hour and my daughter still woke once every night until she was 3. Just a different perspective

Soapnotshowergel · 05/02/2023 22:44

7.30-6.30/7am, no wakes unless poorly. No nap apart from on nursery days when it's 45 minutes - 1hr.

My eldest would be up multiple times a night and I'd usually end up in bed with her at some point every night.

Flowerfairy101 · 05/02/2023 22:48

DD is 2.5 and sleeps 7-7.30 usually unless ill or bad dreams. Sounds amazing but she didn't sleep through until around her 2nd birthday and stopped napping at 18 months. Before that she woke similar to yours OP. We co slept and tried everything else possible but in the end she just suddenly started sleeping through and that was that. Fingers crossed yours is the same soon Flowers

My DS just turned 3. Only recently dropped his nap, and even then not every day. While the nap persisted, he'd nap beautifully, but then not go to sleep for the night until around 9pm. Then would need resettling at 3am and 5.30am, unless he decided that was when he was awake for the day. Lots of time spent sitting next to him in the dark/sleeping on his floor.

Nope dropped the nap and it's slightly better. Can still often wake in the early hours and be hard to resettle. Occasionally surprises us - the other night, he went from 7.30 to 7.30 with no waking! Bliss!

Whatever you're going through, it will pass and it will get better xx

CurlyGirlMumma · 05/02/2023 23:35

Sleeps 7:30-7. Regularly wakes 1-2 times a night. Just needs tucking or putting back on her pillow. Sometimes she can wake a lot. But also is back asleep quickly. It's annoying though 😂

everythingsapickle · 05/02/2023 23:41

22 months - has never once slept through. Usually wakes once or twice.

CoalCraft · 06/02/2023 07:12

DD is 2 years, two months and sleeps through the night most nights, roughly 8pm to 7am. Maybe once in a fortnight she'll wake up and need resettling, usually because of something like teething, illness etc., and then it tends to be multiple times that night because she's feeling sore/unwell.

She's in a sort of transition phase with her daytime nap at the moment. Depending on how tired she seems she may or may not have a 45-60 min nap after lunch.

FlounderingFruitcake · 06/02/2023 07:20

Sleeps through 7-6.30. Wake ups are very rare and only if he’s unwell. But we had to sleep train to get there! Napping is hit and miss, only ever on the go in the stroller or car, for max 40 minutes and often skips it altogether.

Sounds like a dream. My 2 year old sleeps from 9/9.30-3/4 and then wakes a few more times. Sometimes he wakes at midnight.

Yes it is good, the final wakes went when I stopped excl BF and only offered water at night. He soon stopped bothering to wake up.

Nursery wears him out I find.

But ultimately sleep is a mystical thing and it could so easily be otherwise!

SleepWouldBeADream · 06/02/2023 14:35

My youngest is 2yr4m and is still waking on average 3-5 times a night. Goes to bed about 7.30pm, usually awake by 10pm, in our bed, back in his on repeat then up for the day around 5.30am. Usually naps 10/11am for an hour or so 😴

Miriam101 · 06/02/2023 14:39

DS is 2 and a half. Sleeps from 7.30/8pm to about 6.30am most mornings. Sometimes wakes but usually just needs a stroke or a reassuring pat. We sleep trained when he was 10 months.

maybabymama · 06/02/2023 14:40

7pm to 7am. One nap during the day 1.30-2.30 hours

Seasonofthewitch83 · 06/02/2023 16:42

DD is 2.5. Has never slept through. Does not wake up fully and goes down quickly, but if not comforted she will wake up from upset and then she will be up for hours.
Its generally getting better the older she gets - it used to be hourly. Now its 1/2 times a night tops.

Saying that, lots of things can throw it off. Dropping naps, illness etc. We have had some horrors the last few weeks!

T0rt0ise · 06/02/2023 17:27

2, nearly 3yo slept through consistently since 12mo, sleep trained at 9mo. Does 1900-0630/0700 and naps 1hr at nursery, closer to 2hrs at home.

Daisy95 · 06/02/2023 17:29

2&half never ever slept through the night ever!!

Keha · 06/02/2023 18:23

Mine is now 3 but this time last year she would do 7:3/ 8-2/3am then wake 6/6:30, then often I could get her back to sleep (in my bed) till about 8. This was when she wasn't unwell, dropping naps etc.

AmillionReasons · 06/02/2023 18:27

Dc1 was a poor sleeper from a baby, finally slept through consistently in own bed from 2.4. Dc2 was a fantastic sleeper as a baby but this changed at 18m until 2.6, exceptions when poorly etc. I'd say sleep became very consistent over 3. I am jealous at all of the good sleepers!

Boneweary · 06/02/2023 18:30

Mine is 2 years two months. He sleeps through most of the time, sometimes have one wake up at around 2am. It’s very easy to resettle him. Has phases of waking up at 5. Sod all works!

BabyB2022 · 07/02/2023 03:30

My 2.5yo sleeps through from 7.30-6.30/7ish and only will wake if something is wrong/bothering her. Has regularly slept through since 7mo except the odd regression but we've stayed consistent and it's never lasted long. She naps around 45 mins most days, any longer now and she won't go to bed.

Anonymouslyposting · 07/02/2023 10:09

My 2.5 year old sleeps 8pm - 7:45am. She wakes in the night and needs us maybe once a month. Unless she’s ill in which case all bets are off. She has a two hour nap after lunch when she’s at home and one hour if she’s at nursery.

She didn’t sleep through once until she was 11 months which is when we got a sleep consultant, moved her to her own room and really worked on getting her to settle herself.
