Engorgement - help!

My DS is 9 months old and has been EBF. Recently I went into hospital for a week and was of course unable to feed / was too ill to. This meant my DS made the switch to formula which I am fine with but what I am not fine with is the engorgement I have in one breast! How do I get it down without pumping and is this normal? It’s been over a week since he BF!

If you can't pump then hand expressing can relieve some pressure. It's very normal as I assume you've gone from several feeds a day to none?

The time it takes milk to dry up varies depending on the person - took 3 weeks for me.

Do take care to relieve the pressure if it gets too much. Mastitis could develop and it's very unpleasant

What about the old cabbage leaves trick?
