Formula feeding - best practice

I'm a first time mum to a 3 week old and I was breastfeeding exclusively, I've now took a turn and am pumping and formula feeding, however as a first time mum I get anxious and want to make sure I'm doing the right thing

So please give me any useful tips and information for formula feeding when going out for the day, making bottles and night etc!

If you’re planning to make bottles long term consider a perfect prep machine. It may go against the official NHS guidelines but it just makes everything so simple.

For night feeds measure the formula out in advance into a little box or pot (can buy one designed for this purpose or just use Tupperware) so you don’t even have to count scoops in the middle of the night.

If out and about readymade formula is so much simpler even if it’s more expensive. You could also use it for night feeds if you want or even all the time until your baby drinks larger volumes less frequently.

Don't warm it up. If you do, you'll always have to.

I agree with @trrk. Perfect Prep for home and then ready made formula for days out.

Don't bother getting the 'night time' Perfect Prep - my friend had one and the only difference is that it doesn't beep when it's in night mode, so as not to wake the baby, but when you're making a bottle at night the baby is awake (or about to be) anyway!

If you know how long you're going to be out for, you can make up bottles, flash cool in a bowl of cold water, then chill right down in fridge. Then you can take them with you. If in a normal bag, they last for two hours. If in cool bag, four hours.
