Hi all,
My baby is due in June. No idea what to buy in terms of clothes and sizes and as worried about temperature (could be cool or hot). Wondering how many grows and vests in each size. Do I need cardis etc?
Does anyone with a summer baby have any advice?
Thank you

I have a summer baby and I'm due another! Congratulations on your pregnancy ☺️

I bought short sleeved popper vests and long sleeved (mittens attached) sleep suits in both newborn and 0-3. Although the weather was warm, I figured a tiny baby is used to living inside a very warm womb so they still need wrapping up at first (within reason, of course).

There was a heatwave when my eldest was about two months old, and we just put her in the short sleeved vests and kept an eye on the temp in the house, and she was fine.

I loved the GroSnug light for sleeping. Suitable from newborn and really handy.

I never used a cardigan until she was about 3-4 months ish and the temperature dropped a bit (just used extra blankets if necessary until then), but you could maybe get a couple in 0-3 if you think you will use them?

Good luck!

My baby was born in a heatwave and we never used the newborn sized cardigan. A lot if the time she was just in a short sleeved vest at home but we did use sleepsuits for going outside or chiller evenings. I also liked those short sleeve rompers.

Don’t buy too much in newborn size anyway until you know how big your baby is, just a pack or two of cheap sleepsuits and vests. Unless your baby is on the small side you won’t use newborn stuff long. 0-1 might last slightly longer and larger babies will quickly be in 1-3. If you live near a big supermarket it’s easy to pick up stuff after the baby arrives if you need it.

My boy was the summer before last, which I think was pretty mild. We had a couple of cardigans that he just never wore because what was the point.

Don't bother with long sleeved vests

Short sleeve or sleeveless vests are the way to go. Short sleeve bodysuits are great, and a few babygros - don't bother with the adorable outfits. People will buy them for you but you'll find it easier to keep him/her in a onesy all the time

Also, blackout blinds
