Ladies how do I give saline nasal drops ?

I have some 4 hours ago but he's so bunged up again can hardly breathe. Can I give them again? Doesn't say on the instructions. It's really worrying me he's so bunged up sounds like he's snoring then chocking gasping and coughing. Out of my mind with worry.

Thanks xx

It's just saline. Just pop some in whenever he's bunged up.

Even better if you get the snot out (after the saline has softened everything, give it a few mins) with a Nose Frida

Those nose suckers are amazing.

I used to put Vicks on the soles of mines feet then put them in a babygro. That worked so well

You can't use vapour rub on a 5 week old. Saline drops you can use as and when as long as it's just one or two drops each time. Keep him upright as much as possible, for sleeping you can try putting some books under the feet of the crib or Moses basket at the head end to give a slight incline. You can also get a Snufflebabe vapour plug in that is suitable from birth for in the room

just drop a few in and nose sucker looks handy?
Few other things that might help
steamy bathroom loosen secretions, keep him warm though
prop up (from underneath the feet) the head
of his crib as sleeping with head raised helps breathing. He’s too tiny for Vicks etc
a little snufflebabe on a muslin at his feet at the most but I’ve never found that to help particularly.

he’s quite tiny op, if you’re at all worried I would have him seen. Make sure he’s having plenty wet and dirty nappies and he’s taking his feeds ok. He might need more time as at his age it’s really hard to suck and breathe and he may take less/vomit it up as the mucous they swallow can cause vomiting. So don’t wait and see just have him seen if you have any worries. Could be a wee cold but also could be bronchiolitis, so if you’re worried I would take him to be reviewed - write down how much he’s feeding his nappies etc as it’s tiring to try and remember when asked. Feeding fairly upright is good too. Hope he’s feeling better soon.

Snuffle babe on the soles on his feet and behind his ears

Saline drops first up the nose and then use a snot sucker - works a treat. We also used the snuffle babe oil for the bedroom!
