Hi everyone.

My DD is 6 years old. An older relative of mine was babysitting her a few weeks ago and unbeknownst to me, let her watch IT the clown with an older cousinConfused. I wasn't happy she watched it but seemed okay at first but in the past week she's been having nightmares. Every single night. She wakes up crying saying pennywise is going to get her. I don't know what to do. I've been letting her sleeping in bed with me, and it's still not helping. She still wakes up. I try to reassure her and tell her it's not real. Cuddles. What do I do??

Find a documentary about the making of it/interviews with the actors without make-up etc. Show her how not real it is. Maybe ask her if she wants to paint her face like a clown or something else to demonstrate that's it's just face paints, it washes off and it's just a normal person underneath.

Get her a night light. Continue to let her sleep with you as long as she needs to.

Really irresponsible of your relative. It's really scary!!

That's a great idea, thank you! I was very upset that she was allowed to watch it, but I was told back "She said it wasn't even that scary", well look now!
