My son having toilet accidents - help!

SecondtimeMama29 · 26/01/2023 15:32

My son has been potty trained for 6 months and barley has an accident and hasn't had a bed wetting episode EVER. He's been trained at night for 4 months.

The last week he has had an accident every day at nursery and the last two nights has wet the bed!!!

Please help or any advice?! I have another little one and getting up at 3am is breaking me!

Could something be causing this?

I would assume a physical cause - UTI, worms or the most likely is constipation.

I took him to the dr two days ago and no urine infection.

Where would he get worms from?

He did an explosive poo today! So not constipated?

Thanks for your reply tho. Appreciate.

Is your other little one a newborn? I've known a few little ones to regress worn their toileting when a new baby comes along. It was just a behavioural thing because of the change.

Is his poo consistent? In frequency and consistency? Asking because DD had a spell of accidents (wee and poo) from poo witholding. She started to poo less regularly and the wee accidents went mad.
It started about 6 months after she trained. We had to add a supplement from GP and that sorted it.

Note-I am not a poo troll.

It happens. Mine had a poo regression which was hell and lasted about 6 weeks. Then it passed. Just stay calm, change him and remind him where the toilet is.

I came to say worms too! It was ALWAYS worms when my little ones started wetting again. Pleased you've solved the mystery.

He kept saying he had an itchy bum but the GP said it was eczema! But I phoned back today and they said it's more than likely works and they've given me the meds for us all to take.

Petri-dish of nursery! 🙈

If you haven't had to deal with it before: get tablets from the pharmacy and all take them, then retake them in 2 weeks. Wash all bedding, towels and surfaces. Check again at regular intervals, plus any time they are itchy, wet themselves or wake unusually in the night. Good luck!

Thank you! He had been scratching so much he was bleeding on his skin.

Sorry if this is tmi - but I have been up and checked and I cannot see any worms which is really odd! Would I be able to see them? The doctor didn't see any either bur she said it's more than likely!

Thank you - we've had the banana style 5ml shot! My little one is under 2 so hasn't had it but me and my son have!

They only come out a night. If he scratching it will be worms

There are weirdo’s with a poo fetish that post about shit on here! As opposed to the people that post utter crap 😂

They mostly come out at night so check just before bed - or whilst they are asleep. When they've had worms for a while, you can definitely see them wiggling out and inside the bum hole. Sometimes you won't see the worms but they will be red and sore.

Miraculously DD has never had worms so far despite over 2 years in nursery! Glad you have an answer.

I have never considered worms. My eldest has been in nursery 3 years and not had an instance of them. Useful to know - why do they cause them to wet themselves?
