16 month old - is this normal?

My DS was a bad sleeper up until 4 months (waking every 1-2 hours). From 5 months he slowly improved and was reliably sleeping through from 6 months, although has always woken early (5.30/6am).

Since turning 1 his sleep has gotten worse and worse, now at 16 months it is terrible. He’s up every night screaming and still up early. I realise sleep isn’t linear but this feels particularly bad and has been going on months. Has this happened to anyone else?

I’m sure teeth, development and 1-2 nap transition are all playing a part (he had no teeth until 12 months and they now all seem to becoming at once inc molars). But we give ibuprofen and doesn’t really make any difference.

Is there light at the end of the tunnel or is this it now? I don’t understand how his sleep can have changed so much.

Mine had multiple teeth coming in at once and his sleep just went to shit throughout.

Hang in there. There are only so many teeth they can get, and once it's done it's done

Try anbesol liquid alongside nurofen.

Thanks @ChildsNoseIsATap praying it is the teeth really, although not nice for him, as the alternative is he just doesn’t want/know how to sleep anymore! We’ve resorted to giving him milk again in the night which he hasn’t had for nearly a year. It’s the only thing that soothes him.

@Sucessinthenewyear thank you we do have this too, doesn’t seem to stop wakings and crying :(

It’s horrible when they are in pain. Tooth ache is a horrible pain.
