My kid being mean to others

I had a message a few days ago from another parent at my child's school. My child has just turned 7 and in year 2 primary.

Basically telling me that my child had been a bit mean to theirs. Their kid has approached another child to play, who is my child's best friend. Mine then tried to get them to go away, involved some other kids in this. Unusual behaviour for them really.

Not nice behavior either and I want to stop it now and talk to them about it. I'll explain about hurting others feelings and being kind to each other, but just wondered if anyone has advice on how I can talk to them about it please?

Did this other mum say it was an ongoing thing or just a one off?

If a one off then she's gone totally overboard messaging you. God help her as her child gets older.

ln terms of how to talk to your child about it, I'd just say what you said above and how it's not nice to be excluded. Ask your child how they'd feel if someone did it to them to see if it weakens a bit if empathy.

But this sort of stuff happens a lot at primary school and I never got involved if my child said they were being left out. I'm fairly sure kids all have their moments.

Awakens, not weakens!
