Advice please: naps and holding / feeding to sleep

Hello! I have a 5 month old who will only nap on me and only if fed to sleep.

I have just about managed to get him to go to sleep without feeding on me at night in his beside the bed crib. I would like him to nap in his cot in nursery in the day but no matter what I try, white noise, routine, dark room, lovey toy, shushing, nothing works - he cries after 10 mins.

I feel trapped and touched out, and 4 x naps a day is starting to wear me down, I dread naps!! Any advice appreciated. Maybe I just start leaving hun to cry, but it just doesn’t feel right…

Please don’t leave him to cry - it’s neglectful

babies aren’t the problem, they’re meant to sleep with/on us. Could you not turn nap time into something positive? Watch a series? Catch up on emails? Nap? Quiet time?

3 of my kids were like that. at bedtime i had to rock them for 30mins after they fell asleep before i could risk putting them down. all daytime naps on me, except for buggy naps.
could you get a sling maybe, of you need to get things done? also, it;s quite cold at the minute, so you could try warming his bed? (didn't work here, but worth a try).

Have you tried rocking in a pram/push chair?

I would work on getting him to sleep another way and then once that is sorted move to him sleeping elsewhere. Rocking? A sling? My DS is 7 months and up until 6 months he took all naps on someone.

We do feed as soon as he wakes up, then play/activity then sleep. I pay attention to wake times as he is very much a structure baby unlike my first. We have just moved to patting him to sleep in his cot.
