I am on my knees

1yo DS hasn’t slept well since the return to nursery (they had a Christmas break) I went to bed at 10 last night and I’ve had about 1 hour sleep since then it’s 3.30 jos

he goes asleep gets him self to sleep in his cot he’s good at that. Then he just wakes for settling loads and up to about 12 will settle easy but after then it is so hard. He’s been awake 2-now I’m still trying to get him back asleep

the other week he was waking 10–12

its so hard I’m running on max 3 hours sleep I don’t know what to do someone give me some hope please that he’ll sleep soon?

im feeling ill I’m that tired

NB: he’s never slept through apart from one night at 6 weeks old and instead of enjoying it and resting I woke every hour to check on him ! Lol

You’re not on your own. Sending exhausted hugs.

I have no suggestions but I too am up with a 7 month old (he’s got a fever tonight but normally he doesn’t sleep either). I’m here for the hand hold, to empathise and also to read any suggestions people might have!

My 12 month old sleeps from 7 till 10 then wakes every hour. Will only settle on breast falls asleep then put her down and she sleeps for a hour then back up again. She's full of cold at the minute but even before this she was a bad sleeper.
I am exhausted.

My son slept from 7-7 from about 8 months now he’s been waking up at 11pm and 3pm for the last couple of weeks. He’s 3 in 2 months and I’m struggling with the lack of sleep

it does get better. Be consistent with the settling back to sleep.

We had a horrendous regression at about 12 months, having had pretty decent sleep (finally) from about 10 months old. Although it sounds like sleep has never been great for you Flowers

What does his routine look like? What time does he wake up/do you get him up in the morning? When does he nap?

ToddleToddleToddle · 19/01/2023 09:27

How often does he nap? If it's twice I would consider dropping his morning nap.

12 months for us was a fun time. He just would not settle at night. It eventually eased up after a few weeks, but it was really hard going for a while

thanks everyone for the comments and solidarity. Sending love to all the exhausted parents there it’s tough! We’ve got this <3

so he is in nursery 4 days a week due to well we have to with our work and lack of help family etc

they have him on a 1 nap a day routine which is mid day. We try to mirror this the other 3 days of the week however sometimes on weekend he would cat nap before bed so like 3pm-3.30 he does struggle near the end of the long stretch before bed time!

but we have had more days off with the 1 nap only so could this be it? He did used to do 2 naps on weekends as he adjusted but I think he’s fully adjusting to 1 nap now

Does he have any milk in the night? My DC stopped night wakes once night weaned. Wishing you all the luck and some sleep!

Calphurnia88 · 19/01/2023 16:36

My almost 10mo was sleeping a lot better (for him, lol) at the start of Dec but the disruption of Christmas really seemed to take its toll on him. Since we got home in Jan he's been fighting/refusing naps.

I thought maybe he was dropping a nap (2 to 1) but over the last few days he's just naturally fallen back into his old routine and nights have got better (2-3 wakes vs. up to 8 from 4-8mo). Its taken us a good 2-3 weeks for this to happen though.

@pjani no just his bottle of milk an hour or so before breakfast! But I wish it was this it’d explain something 😭
