Child maintenance…shocked

Just Wanted to share, my eldest dd is almost 13 and her dad has been in/out of her life, not so much ‘in’ as when she was younger but he always helped to pay for her a little bit which I was grateful for,

the amount never increased and I received mainly £100 PM for years then this year he got married and didn’t send any money, didn’t ask what she wanted for Xmas just completely blanked us/no contact. I sent a message and he didn’t respond.

so I went to the CSA and they have just got back to me and told me he’s on a lot of money and now my payments will be £700 PM I’m so shocked! I bet the next move will be to go self employed or something, can they get out of paying? For whatever reason he stopped paying the £100 so I doubt he will part with what they suggest.

Wow that’s a big jump, my ex only has to
pay £7 per week. Yes they can as my ex has never paid it but that doesn’t mean it will happen to you

It's strange. Probably is not working and the calculation is based on last year's P60. Why would he stop paying 100 if he knew that he was massively underpaying?

Was the £100 through CMS initially?

He is working, I don’t want to reveal how I know but he has a high up job that is available on the internet to see. he’s just bought a house near Ascot, bought a puppy, got married. His new wife is pregnant so maybe he was trying to save money for his new child?! Still I wasn’t expecting him to be earning close to 100,000

Maybe they got a joint account and he forgot to move his direct debit

Mumof3andlab · 17/01/2023 17:58

No sorry the £100 was an informal voluntary arrangement since 2011

So he is very stupid. Wonder how he can earn 100k.

Yes. Standard amount if they are not working

That is shocking. I never knew it could be that low.

It will go down when his new child is born.
Hopefully if he's in a well paid high up job it will be difficult for him to dodge paying.
