Complete reliance on buggy at 2.5

2.5 yo has always been an obstinate little git spirited.

He’s a very active child. When we get to the park or soft play he can charge around for hours. He’s clearly capable of being on his feet for miles.

But he literally won’t walk anywhere with purpose. The park is maybe 3/4Km from our house. He loves it, but he will just not walk there. Depending what mood he is in, he’ll either purposefully head off in the opposite direction or sit down on the floor and whinge for the buggy. When time allows, we try to give him opportunity to walk without purpose, but he doesn’t seem particularly bothered by that either! It’s like at age 2.5 he’s decided walking is pointless and he cba doing it. He’s therefore in the buggy even for very short distances which seems madness at 2.5. We tried the scooter but he didn’t like that either.

I hate spending my days off fighting a tantruming toddler as opposed to seeing him exercising and having a good time in the park. But I’m not sure how much I should be pushing this or letting time take its course? Was anyone else’s 2.5yo like this? Lots of my friends are ditching the buggy and we are so far off that!
