Child Maintenance

So, my ex pays a measly £6.31 a week child maintenance for my two children which I have full time. she owes me arrears of thousands, but, because she is on benefits I will never see any more money from her. this infuriating fact is most annoying. Now turns out she has had another child. Why can people who are unwilling/able to pay for two children they already have but don't see have another child ? surely if you can't pay for two already you can't afford another child ?! it grinds my gears that she is getting away with this whilst I struggle.

It’s appalling. But your children will grow up knowing who was there for them. Cold comfort at times I’m sure but still true.

Sorry your going through this !☹️ least your kids know they can always count on you... they have nothing to thank her for! I couldn't sleep at night if I was her

I feel your pain.

My x has done the same.

I'm on the verge of getting this sorted out I think but they can't take it to court without proving where he lives because he keeps sending the letter back with not at this address on.

I'm sorry to say they have been useless for me from day one.

OceanBear · 16/01/2023 18:41

they are useless this has been going on for over two years now. when ever I contact the csa lot they just say they can't do anything because she is on state benefits. useless system.

Mines been five now. Been to court, the lot. Made no difference.

One lady at the cms said to me that because he pays something even if it's not the full amount our hands are tied.

It's a crap system weighted towards the paying parent. It needs a full overview.

What do you suggest? that she is taken to a hospital and forcibly sterilised. It makes no sense.

gravyriceandchips · 16/01/2023 19:13

I suggest a better system in place of the cms.

I am specifically talking about the bewilderment of the OP regarding parents having more children if they don't pay child maintenance.

That's not really funny is it

littlelid · 16/01/2023 20:50

Maybe just treat it financially as if she's dead and anything you get then will be a plus

gravyriceandchips · 17/01/2023 22:39

@taxpayer1 it bewilders me too.

Why do they do it.

So many whys.

Why does the new partner not think of it happened to her or might happen to me.

Your right you can't sterilise people.

Until the CMS is sorted out it will always be like this.
Mostly women taking the responsibility because it's all a patriarchy overall.
