Does Co-sleeping guidance apply to older children?

I’m aware of the safe co-sleeping guidelines and was just wondering up until what age they apply? We don’t co-sleep at the moment as we like sleeping with a duvet (and multiple pillows in DH’s case) and our double bed is too small anyway. I am even paranoid about bringing baby into bed for a cuddle in case I fall asleep. We will buy a bigger bed soon I was just wondering at what point it’s considered safe for your child to get into bed with you for a few hours in the morning (or the whole night if they are unwell) in a normal adult bed with a duvet. Still wouldn’t be drinking or taking medication etc. Are the guidelines just for babies or also toddlers and older children?
