Potty training - does it sound like we're doing okay?

So today marks two weeks since we started potty training DD and I guess I just want to check in and see if it sounds like we're making good progress? She's our first and I often feel I don't know what's to be expected.

So DD is pretty spot on with wees and has been since day three tbh. We average about one accident a day and they are at risky times such as when just waking up from a nap or on longish car journeys.

Trouble is she's much more hit and miss with poos. At home it's 50/50 whether she'll tell us she needs to go and at nursery she's yet to have any success at all :( She's not resistant at all and when she gets it right she's delighted but it's like she gets very little warning. The frustrating thing is she often asks to go but then it's just gas! So I think she's confusing the feelings of needing to poo Vs fart.

DH is unconcerned and says she just needs to get the hang of it but I'm worried that she's just getting used to going in her pants at nursery. She's there four days a week a week, soon to be five :'( I'd love two weeks at home with her to work on it but it's just not possible atm.

How old?

Every journey and child is different, sounds like your child is doing fine and know that there may be many ups and downs. My (very bright) daughter started potty training at 2y4 months, did ok with it at first but then totally lost interest from 2y6 mos and had about 2-3 accidents per day at nursery for several months ("I didn't want to stop playing so I peed in my pants") despite our best efforts. At 2y10 months we gave up for awhile and went to pull-ups because we had a new baby and couldn't handle all the laundry. Finally at 3y2 months she "got it" and since then she rarely has accidents and goes to the potty all on her own. Every kid is different and it can be messy.... so yes it sounds like you're doing fine but it's only been 2 weeks so just keep at it and see how it goes.

I was you! Did DS at 2y11m, wees came really quickly but poos took a bit longer. I was really worried he’d never get it. Can’t remember exactly how much longer but was definitely OK by the time DS2 was born when DS1 was 3y2m and probably a bit before that!
