Neocate formula

Hi all,
After a long and hard battle for 15 weeks, my dad has been prescribed Neocate formula.
I’ve smelled it and it smells awful, any tips to help?? She’s already on sma alteria and accepted it no problem.
Also, I know all formula says don’t make in advance/warm etc, but is this an absolute no-no with this milk?

My little one has been on this milk for about 4 weeks now i think - he was on Aptamil pepti 1 previously. I was so nervous as everyone said it was awful babies dont like it. My baby took to it straight away no problem at all - and honestly it’s been the best thing ever, took a good week or so to see complete changes but it’s been a miracle worker.
I bought some natural organic vanilla essence (one with no alcohol in!) and if baba really will not take to it you can add 2 small drops to a bottle and see. Pead recommended that, but i would just try it and see first you might be surprised!

I agree, it smells awful. We had this after a CMPI/CMPA diagnosis at 10 months.

Our dietician suggested putting flavouring in it (I think a drop of vanilla essence was suggested at one point).
Unfortunately my DC would drink for 30 seconds and then refuse. We ended up switching to high calorie oat milk (although that's probably not an option if your baby is very young).

Can you get a dietician referral? Or join a CMPA Facebook group in the meantime to get advice.

The only advice (that I've heard) is that you shouldn't prepare Neocate with boiling water so if you want to make it in advance, you simply need to use cooled boiled water rather than boiling since boiling water kills the important probiotic in hypoallergenic formula. How did you prepare your formula before?

We use a perfect prep machine and simply add the hot shot and cooled water BEFORE adding the formula.

Good luck on your Neocate journey! It does smell horrific but it worked wonders for our LO so I hope it does the same for yours!

Our LO switched over to Neocate without issue but agree with the vanilla essence advice if yours is turning their nose up at it.
