5 month old will only roll in cot

Pretty much what it says on the tin! My daughter has just turned 5 months old and has been rolling from back to tummy for the past 3 weeks (since around 4.5 months). However, she will only do it in her cot! When she is on the floor playing she has no desire to roll whatsoever.
When she's in her cot she will roll both while awake and asleep.
I'm trying to encourage her to do it when we're playing, but just wondered if anyone had any ideas for how I can encourage her to roll on the floor? Thanks 😊

I don't have any advice on how to encourage her to roll unfortunately, but just wanted to say my ds is 8 months old and only seems to roll in the evening just before his bath. He seems to forget he can roll at other times of the day 😅

@Jendrw5 how funny! I'm glad it's not just my daughter then! 😂

Maybe the texture of the mattress makes it easier?
(Or maybe not - babies are kinda random in why they do stuff)

She's only 5 months, and will roll on the floor when she's ready!

@Needmorelego that's a good point! Thank you 😊

@MaraScottie yes, and I'm not looking to push her just help her. I'm aware she will do things in her own time.

My daughter did this! She was useless at rolling for ages, and she'd make some half hearted attempts during the day. But at night she'd be obsessed with trying to do it, usually in her sleep. I think it's because they tend to practise new skills in their sleep. She's 8 months old now and has mastered rolling, but her latest thing is waking herself up crawling around in the cot and sitting herself up 🤦‍♀️
