I am absolutely petrified. DD has had her rotavirus vaccine and then I have her calpol. She spat some of the calpol out and I used my finger to lick it off. But o hadn’t wiped her mouth from the rotavirus vaccine. I had just been told to be careful kissing her and then I do that. I am so so so scared of now being poorly

Nah, you'll be fine! The vaccine doesn't give you rotavirus, it's far too weakened for that.

PatriciaHolm · 06/01/2023 16:32

Do you have a very weakened immune system?

If not, then there is nothing to worry about.

Butterscotchbaby · 06/01/2023 16:34

My baby had his vaccinations a few weeks ago and the nurse told us we needed to be super careful about this - not to kiss him, not to touch his mouth, basically anything to do with passing anything from his mouth - she said to double bag all dirty nappies for 2 weeks !

That's completely over the top! 😟

Like PP said, only worry if you're immunocompromised!

When she said it i thought christ!! It was 2 days before Christmas! She said if we caught it we would be seriously ill 🤒

That was over the top Butterscotch baby! The guidance says wash hands for two weeks after changing nappy. None of the other stuff

Mummykeen9 · 06/01/2023 22:10

this makes me very worried if that’s what she said to you

How are you feeling now? If anything were to happen it would have by now

You’d hope that was a given - not just after RV jabs!

Mummykeen9 · 07/01/2023 21:41

I am fine. Nothing happened so far. Thanks for asking ❤️

I wouldn’t worry about this. If a full dose of the vaccine doesn’t give your baby rotavirus how could you catch it from a tiny bit of dribble from their mouth.

the washing hands after dirty nappies is because I presume the bodies immune response kicks in and generates a higher dose in the poo than what would have been in the original vaccine.
