Sunburnt child

Not sure what to do, have mum and her boyfriend over to stay from overseas in the school holidays, we live in a hot country. We have gone over suncream and hats more than once.

granny wanted to look after the child while she’s here (I work 2 days per week) child would normally go to holiday care.

we’ve had a few minor incidents mild red from the sun not giving child water. Today came home and child is pretty red on face and arms, granny and partner had been drinking probably drunk 20 bottles of beer between them (we have a pool too so not good)

granny has a history of a temper so not sure how to approach this.
not sure what to do partner is very upset this has happened this is the most child has ever been burnt as we cream every hour.

what would you do? Help?

Send your child to holiday care. Obviously.

Well you send your chid to their usual childcare and don’t leave in your mums care again. I would say why too.

They were looking after your child and drinking beer?!!!!

I would be angrier about the drinking (I would be angry about the sunburn) but the drinking and pool scenario is worse.

They wouldn't be watching my child again if I was in your position and I would not feel slightly bad about that at all.

If they don't like it and cause trouble.... tell them they know where the door is.

Don’t leave your child in their care unsupervised.

Itisbetter · 06/01/2023 10:27

It’s easy. You treat the burn and never leave them in charge of your child.

Ask yourself what is worse. Angry Grandmother or repeat of the situation... did they say sorry at least?
