3 year old tonsils

So my 3.5 year old came down with (what we assumed was) tonsillitis over Christmas. Christmas eve she was off her food and a bit warm, Christmas day barely drank, slept loads and was just generally really upset, checked and she had very large, red tonsils, and spots, high temperature. (Were pretty experienced with this as both kids have had it multiple times) with nurofen and Calpol she was a bit better and by Tuesday was eating better and drinking normally, no temp either. For at least a week she has been completely fine in herself, eating and drinking normally, no temperature. Her tonsils however are still very swollen, almost touching, and you can hear when she talks that it's swollen (hope that makes sense!) Also very noticeable on her neck.
Anyway I think I'm going to call the GP tomorrow and see what they think as it's been a while now but does anyone have experience of this, does it just sometimes take a bit longer to go? Not sure whether to send her to nursery or keep her off on case they want to see her

Your daughter needs antibiotics to hit this on the head. Both my kids got tonsillitis before Xmas and this is second time for one. It's horrible for them as it is adults . Their throats were all white ish large spots.

Even though she has no white spots, no temp? She's had antibiotics previously when the symptoms have lasted more than a couple of days, but she seemed to kick the actual illness quite quickly this time
