Hi I use pampers size 4 on my 17 mo old but he is literally soaking through them.. his trousers be absolutely soaked within the space of an hour and his nappies be saturated.. we even tried putting a nappy pant over the top of the nappy for extra protection but he's still soaking through every hour and his trousers be soaked... any tips? Thanks

Pampers do 4+ for extra absorption. DS is the same age and we recently went up to 5 (there’s a 5+) too. I usually use reusables which are good because you can add extra absorbency but am pregnant again and struggling to keep on top of the laundry.

Hey I use Morrisons nutmeg brand for my 3 year old and have not had any problems and she drinks a lot of juice due to her needing help going to the toilet, otherwise maybe a trip to the gp or health visitor about the amount he is urinating and ask if you should be concerned and what they say. Good luck

What weight is he?
You might need a bigger nappy if his weight is within the guide for a bigger one.

Is it coming out the side or the top of the nappy?

I found Rascal and friends (Green for taped, grey for pull-ups- from Tesco) really good for my son who wet through nappies every night and had constant poo explosions.

20 pounds I think

Does he wear a vest with poppers at the bottom? They used to make my sons nappy leak at about that age. Especially at night

Time to size up I think? My son has been in a size 5 since he was 8 months I think, at which point he was around 20lb. You must have a dinky 17mo! He's 27lb now at 20 months old and still fits a size 5.

I seem to recall with my daughter than they start holding their pee for a bit longer at that age. So rather than doing a few small pees across say 3hrs of having a nappy on. They do one giant pee and sometimes it can't absorb quickly enough which is why it leaks.

Maybe size up? We're just about to go up to a size 6 for my 14 month old daughter. She's 90th centile but in proportion and the size 6 fit well. We use kit and kin pull ups so there might be a brand difference in size, but worth trying a size 5 I reckon.

MGee123 · 04/01/2023 22:02

I'd go up to size 5. Our daughter is 16 months and not that big, and has been in 5's overnight for a while.

Size up. This was always the tell tale sign I needed to size DS up.
