Reflux, Lactose Intolerant or other?

Hi All,
looking for some advice, FTM, so bear with me.

My daughter is 12 weeks old and is a happy and content baby, who sleeps really well. She has always just pooped 1/4 days (confirmed by doctor all was ok, was just her rhythm).

The last ten days, she’s been sicky (sticky like substance) after a bottle and has really bad nappies (leaking out every direction), 3/4 times a day. She still takes her bottle, fine, burps throughout.. after an hour or so, she wakes herself up with watery sick.

i called the doctor for some advice and they have put us on Aptimal Pepti 1, thinking she could have a lactose issue.

I thought it was more reflux, but doctor said she wouldn’t get that at 3 months.

I am hesitant to change her milk, as I’ve read it can make symptoms worse before better, and I don’t want to put her in any discomfort when she isn’t in any to start with, just want to be able to sort the sickness and diarrhoea?

can an intolerance just start after 12 weeks? Can reflux start after 12 weeks?

thanks in advance.

Lactose intolerance is incredibly rare in babies. It’s caused lack of the enzyme needed to break down the lactose (sugar in milk). It’s almost always genetic. And symptoms will have been present from birth. CMPA, allergy to the protein in cow’s milk is much more likely. Allergies rarely develop on the first exposure.

Agree with above, aptimal pepti is prescribed for cows milk protein allergy not lactose intolerance and lactose is v rare in babies. My daughters cmpa symptom was very bad nappies.

In terms of the reflux, have they been checked by a tongue tie specialist?

thank you.
No, haven’t seen a tongue tie specialist, only reviewed when she was born, she’s always taken her milk and has always been fine, it’s just the last ten days, which is why I’m puzzled.

Thanks again

Am I worrying about nothing...LOOSE BOWELS...my DD no.2 is almost 9weeks old and has still never had a "normal" bowel movement...about 3-4weeks she had a couple of soft movements but ever since her poo is always watery.... normally moves bowels every day once but can have a day without and a day with a couple of movements.....I just worry that she isn't ever having any soft formed movements. She is formula fed due to failing it latch. Did have issues with wind and I changed her from C&G to Aptimil to see if it helped which it has with wind but bowels still loose and watery... Any opinions/ help. Note she nearly always strains when pooing.
