Tongue Tie Reattached??

I’m starting to get concerned that DDs tongue tie has reattached but I don’t know if this is even possible as it’s been months - tie was cut at 13 weeks (posterior tie) and she is now 10 months. It was definitely successful at first as breastfeeding improved and a few times at around 5 months she stuck her tongue all the out. But now it seems she can’t stick her tongue out at all even a little bit. Could it actually reattach all this time later?

she eats solids perfectly well and babbles bababa and occasionally mamam but no dada at all. Her BFing latch has become shallow again too but maybe she’s just lazy with it.

im worried it’ll affect her speech although I keep reading that there’s no real evidence of this actually being the case. And I can’t help but think that the number of bottle fed babies with undiagnosed ties must be pretty high and they don’t have speech problems.

any experiences??

Honestly unless it is really bad tt, it won't affect speech. I say this as my then baby had really bad tt that must have made his reflux worse. We didn't know what it was until he was over a year old and there was no point in cutting as it didn't affect his speech.

He was so bad that a dentist asked during his 3 year appointment how was he fed as a baby as the tt was so bad. He fed every two hours as a baby for almost 21 months.
He is now almost 10 with perfect speech and he actually spoke very early around 15 months. He's still the talker of the family.

My other two had their tt snipped around 3 weeks based on our previous experience with our first. Second was alright but third always had a shallow latch. She is now 19 months and her latch is still not great.

My third's latch was so bad for the first time I had sore bleeding nipples. I stopped using cloth nappies at 12 weeks just to focus on breastfeeding. Anyway I digress !

First two fed until 25/26 months and third still breastfeeds at age 19 months. So unless your baby's tt was very bad, from my experience it shouldn't affect speech.

My baby had a tongue tie and I chose not to have it cut. It natural went on its own at some point. He’s 11 now never had any problems.
