HiPP Organic Baby Milk - thoughts?

What are people's thoughts on HiPP Organic. I've heard good things online.

Choosing the right Baby Milk is a minefield. How do you go about choosing what's right for your baby :-/.

I don't have any siblings who have kids and most of my friends don't have children, yet.

P.s baby incoming end of January

I wouldn’t give it to much thought. They all have to adhere to strict guidelines/nutrition, therefore one isn’t better than the other.

If it helps my first dc had SMA cartons when out and about and her bottles at home were Aldi’s own formula powder.

Chose whichever formula is easily available to you. They are all pretty much the same.

The nutritional composition of formula is regulated and that are all much the same as each other. Some of the major brands are all made by the same parent company. Any difference is all smoke and mirrors. If not breastfeeding you should use a first stage milk for the first year and then transition to cows milk.

If you have decided to formula feed your baby please look at first steps nutrition trust. This is reliable, evidence based and free from bias and will support you to decide.

I never used formula but my midwife said to me they're there abouts all the same as they have such strict guidelines. She said to go for the one in your nearest shop so if you run out you don't need to go really far to get some more!

We used HIPP organic because our friends tried them all and this was the only one that didn't make their baby sick! Very unscientific but we thought we might as well start there, and it worked, so we carried on.

HeyyyMrNoodle · 03/01/2023 16:20

I've heard mostly good things about HIPP but have heard that the inevitable spit up babies have stinks when on that one - not necessarily a problem but not very nice!

FWIW my daughter has always been on cow and gate and had no problems at all with it. I wasn't sure of the difference between any of the brands so I went with c&g just because I had heard of it before and she's been fine. A tub is £10 (was £9.50 until a month or two ago), and the individual premade ones are 90p each which we use when we go out and about.

Congrats on your pregnancy!

It was a life saving for us - we started our little boy on aptamil and it really didn't agree with him so we moved on to hipp and it worked like a charm - they're basically all the same but some babies react differently to each - you just need to find which one works

Yes, but they aren't all organic. And even though nutritionally they have to conform to the same rules they can do that by using different ingredients. Some contain fish oils, for example, some don't.

FlounderingFruitcake · 03/01/2023 16:30

Both of my 2 had Hipp, it did the job, it’s all much of a much anyway, and in reference to a PP their spit up didn’t stink and I’ve never heard that before. Eldest also had American formula when we lived there and literally no difference even though their regs are different to the EU. My only criteria would be a) that the local shop sells it and b) you can get ready made.

SlipperSchlepper · 03/01/2023 16:48

I know most people will say that they're all the same really, but my first didn't get on with Aptimal so we switched to Hipp and never looked back. Used it for both my children and it was great. It also mixed up much better than the Aptimal did for us. No idea why that would be but it did. (We swirled it until dissolved rather than shook it to avoid air bubbles which can cause gas.)

BabyBoyR · 11/01/2023 16:10

My little boy started on Apatmil, it constipated him and did not agree with him at all. I tried Kendamil but this also didn’t agree with him. I was recommend Hipp milk and I haven’t looked back, it mixes much better (no bubbles) and doesn’t constipate him.

My DCs are now 17 and 14 and we used HiPP back in the day. My reasoning was that DH and I have always used organic milk (from a welfare point of view) and at that point HiPP were the only organic formula available. Never any issues with it - DCs both fed well.

MrsSamR · 11/01/2023 17:47

Another advocate for HIPP here - currently feeding my 12 week old on it and my 2 and a half year old also thrived on it!

MGee123 · 11/01/2023 18:42

They're all basically the same. Choose one that you can buy in several shops locally to minimise risk of running out. One that does pre-made bottles is handy too. We used Hipp Organic and it was fine for us.

Autumnmummy2 · 17/01/2023 22:25

We have moved from cow and gate to hipp organic to see if it helps with our little ones explosive number 2s every day . Can anyone explain why the servings are so different? Eg cow and gate say 6 oz for 4 months and hip says 5oz ? Does it make any difference? Our LO was on 7oz c and g because she was draining 6oz shou I give her the same amount of hipp that I was was giving of cow and gate? Any advice gratefully received🥰

Mamabear04 · 18/01/2023 00:51

I think it's much more gentle on the stomach than aptemal and SMA

Autumnmummy2 · 18/01/2023 08:59

Thank you I have heard this hopefully it helps. Did it help your LO? Xx

asdmama · 18/01/2023 09:02

Hipp was the only milk my DS would keep down. I'm not sure why as I presumed all milks were the same.. but cow & gate, aptamil and SMA a made him projectile vomit. He thrived on Hipp.
