Breastfeeding on antibiotic

Hi all, I have a 5 week old who I've been ebf. I have an infection in my c section wound and gp has advised I need to start a different antibiotic (have finished 2 courses already which were no help). The downside is she says it will transfer into my milk so can only give a low dose and it might make my milk taste bitter to baby. I haven't started it yet so I can't remember the name of the antibiotic she said on the phone earlier but has anyone else come across this? Did your lo have any issues with feeding? Is there anything I can eat to make my milk sweeter to counteract the bitterness? We've been working so hard on getting feeding established and he's just in a stage of cluster feeding right now so I'm really scared of interrupting it too much.

Hello, sorry to hear your wound isn't healing as hoped!

When my daughter was around 3 weeks old I got mastitis and it took 4 weeks of antibiotics (two different types but cannot recall which) to clear, I remember her nappies being a bit lose and smelly with a darker green colour, but she still drank the milk, which was a mixture of breast milk in bottles and from the breast (due to tongue tie we were working on getting just onto the breast).

I didn't take anything to change the taste of milk and can't recall her refusing it.

Hope it heals soon
