Kids are a bit magic aren't they?

It's past midnight and I should be asleep. I'm just thinking about DS and kids in general and thinking about how amazing they really are.

DS is very recently 3 and in 3 short years he has gone from completely dependent newborn to a whole person who can communicate what he wants, how he feels, things he'd like to do. Every step of the way, every new challenge he's conquered has brought me so much pride and happiness. I honestly didn't think I would enjoy parenting a small child but it's great. Don't get me wrong is incredibly challenging at times and by no means always joyful. When you take a moment to stand back and just watch them and what they're becoming it's a bit mind blowing.

Feeling a bit emotional tonight, sorry for the odd ramble.

What a lovely thread ❤️.

They definitely are magical. I am so proud of our very timid DS who started Reception in September and has completely taken it in his stride. I often spot DP watching him with so much love while he makes up a game with his toys and I honestly don't think anything could make me happier.

I’m watching DS, who’s 15, fall in love for the first time. It seems like a heartbeat ago that I fell in love with him ❤️.

Love this thread! My not so tiny girl is almost 8 and makes me laugh everyday with her expressions and impressions. She is way cooler than I’ll never be!

Ever be!

Pure magic. DD has gone from a 6lb, jaundiced scrap to a sassy 3 year old who told daddy the other day that his driving wasn’t very good and that ‘his face is getting more tired’ 😂

The utterly batshit things they say to you with the most earnest expressions, I’ve never laughed as much as since DD started talking.

Also the cuteness - she reached for DH’s hand on a dog walk the other day saying ‘I’ll hold your hand daddy as it makes me nice and safe’. Nawwwww ❤️

They are amazing at converting food into energy and being a person. A bit weird when you think about it.🫠

I stare at my massive adult twin boys pushing and shoving each other around my kitchen and find it weird that they were once cuddled up together in my belly! 😂

DD 2 told me in the car on the way home from nursery today 'Toby was crying. I said no no don't cry. It's okay I look after you'.

Nearly crashed the car. She was mute 3 weeks ago and I was starting to panic. Amazing girl. Made my day.

That's so lovely. This thread has me all emotional. My DCs amaze me every day. Good thread to read to close the day.

Not magic, it's you! You taught them, raised them, nurtured them to be what they are today

Must be the night for this. Baby woke earlier and even though she settled , I wanted to keep holding her and got teary. She's one soon and my god she's been a challenge but hit me that she'll only be this small once and so innocent and reliant on us keeping her safe. I wish I could keep her safe forever and a day.

That reminds me of DS, he knows it's very important he holds your hand in a car park and will protest loudly from the second you get him out the car until it's locked and you can take his hand. They're just so clever and so cute.
