endometritis or retained placenta?

Not sure where to post this thought this section might be my best bet !

Has anyone ever had bleeding completely go and then a large amount just come out suddenly ? I'm day 8 post birth.

It completely seems to stop then I randomly get very large gusts of it at once. I bled quite a bit after birth and the midwife put her hand up there and pulled out 4 large clots. (Had to get back on the gas and air for it)

I also went for a wee an hour ago and had the most intense cramp on my right lower abdomen (ovary area) it was so so bad but completely disappeared when I got up and feels ok now when I press or put pressure on it. I'm worried I could have an infection ? Could this be normal ? I don't have any other period cramping anymore. I am breast feeding.

Thanks

If you're worried you can speak to the midwives and depending on where you live, you can ring the 24hr triage that's used antenatally (I could in my area) for advice.

Sitting down for prolonged periods, or when sleeping can lead to increased volume and clots forming when you are then more mobile.

And I believe breastfeeding can impact on the way you bleed PP but I can't recall how (just remember it being in a conversation a midwife said to me when I asked them about clots). There's specific things they look for in a clot in case it's retained placenta, but apologies I cannot recall exactly what this is, I just remember I had to ask a midwife to check for me when I was day 3 PP in the hospital.

Ring the ward were you gave birth. You will be under their care until at least day 10 PP.
