Vomiting child and fear of catching it

My DS 11 woke up at 4am and threw up 4 times until around 9am. Poor love was so brave and I was there with him but suffer With emetephobia.
I stood behind him rubbing his back and saying positive things so in the hopes I came across as supportive. I don’t think he realised how absolutely this terrified me.
i had to clean vomit off the floor and used gloves and bleached.

he is much better now thankfully but I am so frightened I am going to catch it.
i concentrate on anything. We have watched lots of films today as he has been on sofa all day.
Please reassure me if possible. The next week is going to be so stressful with me symptom spotting.

Well done on being able to be so supportive to your child, that’s incredible!! I know a couple of people with this phobia and I’ve seen them literally fall apart at just the thought of it. You’ve done amazing!
As for not catching it, keep up your personal hygiene, wash hands frequently, try to limit personal contact a bit. There should also be some medication you can take to reduce the likelihood of you being sick yourself? Sorry I don’t know the name, but my friend has a repeat prescription for it.

Thank you for such kind comments. I am so ashamed of having this problem. It’s just he is my son and I love him and couldn’t let him be alone. Not judging anyone who couldn’t by the way. It’s just now that I have to get through as well.
j will have a look for this medication and thank you!
