Book on child development

Hello!

I'm a mum to my 2 year old DD. I'm looking for a book on child development. I'm not looking for a theoretical book but more of a practical guide to general milestones children should be hitting by certain ages and ideally some general guidance on how best to guide and encourage children as they develop. So looking at things like motor skills, counting, reading, writing etc...

DD is an only and I don't have a lot of friends with children the same age so it would be reassuring to ensure we are moving in the right direction.

I've been piecing together things with help from the internet but it would be good to have everything in one place.

Does this sort of thing exist?

Many thanks for your help!

I found the Start4Life emails useful in this regard. A monthly email with expected milestones and suggested activities.

Thank you for your reply - will go have a look at the website and see if there is anything similar that isn't the emails.
