Toddler bumped head

My 16 month old was arsing around rocking on one of those little wooden ikea chairs this morning and it tipped back and she knocked her head on the play kitchen.

I feel so terrible as I wasn't quick enough to grab her and I should have just taken her off it when she didn't stop being silly.

Anyway she cried for maybe 30 seconds then went back to playing, has happily had her breakfast and seems fine but there is a little bump and I'm so worried she has seriously hurt herself. I feel wracked with guilt.

Should I go to a&e do you think??

You absolutely do not need to go to a+e, you would be wasting their time and resources

Dc didn't lose consciousness, was fine after and (presumably) you haven't noticed any concerning symptoms since, so chances are you toddler is completely fine. Obviously if that changes then reevaluate

Did she lose consciousness? Any seizures? Stopped breathing? Excessive crying (after inital shock)? Difficult to wake from sleep?

These are the questions doctors will ask. Most bumps are nothing to worry about and do not require an A&E visit.

If you are worried, you can always call 111 and they will have medical staff review over the phone. They'll ask the above questions and determine if the toddler does need to be seen by a doctor.

Based on your post I wouldn't be too worried - toddlers bump their heads all the time and 99% of the time it's all okay :)
