Vomiting cough

Does anyone else’s child vomit when they have a chesty cough ? My 4 year old child has a bad cold and is full of mucous, he can clear his nose fine but the cough sounds chesty and all through the night coughing untill he vomits it’s a mixture of phlegm and sick, he’s so upset and exhausted from it. What can I do to help?

My 4 year old son also had this for 3 weeks. It was awful. Olbas oil in a humidifier at night seemed to help a little, as did warm baths and calpol when he was in a lot of discomfort from coughing but really the only thing was to let it run its course. No amount of cough medicine worked.

We had this. It's horrid isn't it. We found cutting out milk/dairy helped to a degree. I took DD to the Docs to check it wasn't a chest infection, it wasn't & so we just had to wait for it to go. Prop up bed & mattress, humidifier. Hope it goes quickly x
