Going away for Christmas - hit me with ideas!

Right. As title says.....I'm so going away next Xmas!!!!!

Willing to go anywhere ! Live in south east uk
But happy to drive ( up to 8hrs) and happy to fly!

We are thinking of leaving around 23rd checking in and spending Xmas day somewhere

Don't want a hotel so chalet/apartment so home from home with the option to cook a Xmas meal if we want to - went out for Xmas dinner this year which was nice but next year definitely wanna go away

Have 2 girls will be 11.5 yrs and 18 months

We are looking at Edinburgh for next Xmas, though I want Michelin star food for xmas dinner, not home cooked!

We are going to the Colorado Rockies next year

We’re spending ours in my husbands summer house in Sweden, far enough away to be in some lovely woods in a lake, but close enough that we can drive into the city. Also not far to fly, roads are very good in Sweden, so driving is very easy, even for those who aren’t too confident.

@Dogsgottabone Scotland is a contender! I'd LOVE a log cabin, fire and cosy chalet with a hot tub but not too secluded for a walk into the city or a mooch / walk around.

@userxx we looked at lanzarote but the temperature put us off, I know it's warmer than here but I'd feel like I'd want it warm as would feel like a summer holiday if that makes sense ?

I was sat in a bikini slurping cocktails by the pool, it's pot luck I suppose.
