Sorry guys it’s me again, I am just worried for the little one just need some advice.

he had 40c temp on Wednesday last week, I took him to the hospital and they said he has an infection and have him antibiotics penicillin. He had high temp for 2 more days and was normal on Friday he finished his antibiotics course Saturday but since then he has been lethargic and wanting to sleep. When he’s awake he’s playing but still low on energy and Just wants to sleep more than normal. Do you think that’s normal? Is it because of the antibiotics?

even right now he’s been sleeping since 1pm and it’s now 3pm

do I need to be worried? Or is it his body recovering?

How old and how much are they actually sleeping versus normal? Some toddlers will still have a 2 hour nap every day until they’re over 3 so that in itself doesn’t sound that concerning especially if they’re playing happily when awake and the fever has gone. But obviously you know your child best and what’s normal for them plus there are some nasty bugs around at the moment so don’t hesitate to seek medical advice if you are worried.

I’d check that out. It sounds like he’s still unwell. How is his temperature and is he eating and drinking normally?

@FlounderingFruitcake
hes 2 and half and he normal takes an hour max nap in the day. But he’s sleeping much more than normal. I am thinking of calling 111 and see what they say 😩

No harm in calling, if you’re worried then you mind won’t be put at ease until you speak to the experts. Hope he’s better soon x

As you are worried, do call for reassurance. An infection can knock you out for a while and it's natural to sleep more during recovery. Sleep is healing, I'm sure he'll be fine in a week or so, bless him.

Thank you guys I am on hold with NHS 111 for half an hour. Hopefully I will get some sort of appointment from them. 😩
