What kind of things do you do for your child when they are sick

Maybe a bit of a silly topic.

DS ( nearly 5) hasn't been well all week. He loves lying on the sofa in front of the fire watching tv using my heavy dressing gown as a blanket, ice lollies, drinks and generally a big fuss being made of him. Frequently requests that I bring the thermometer to check how sick he is then wants to see the colour (the braun one that lights up green/amber/red depending on how high temp is) 😃

What kind of things do you do for your kids when they are ill? As a child I loved getting flat lemonade/coke or lucozade.

How I wish I could be a child again when sick 😂

PJ day, blanket on the sofa, extra screen time, hot drinks, waited on hand and foot!

As a child my mum generally took the ‘soldier on’ approach .. we knew if she thought we were really ill because she always cut sandwiches or toast into quarters rather than halves.

My mum used to make me hot squash (I realise now she put soluble aspirin in it).

She also used to bring me a bowl with 2 cups of water and my toothbrush and toothpaste, so I could brush my teeth on the sofa/ in bed instead of standing in the bathroom. It always made me feel so looked after.

Love the tooth brushing on sofa @LegoLady95 😂 DS would love this

Yes, I have good memories of being ill! Blankets, endless films on video (I'm old!), lucozade. It sounds to me like you look after your DS very well!

Sofa and Lucozade! I have sometimes got Lucozade for the kids when they’ve been struggling to get things down. Mainly for them it’s just TV and snack food. And normally me sleeping with them at night 🤦🏻‍♀️

I wasn't Ill very much but one thing I do remember is my mum using old baby grows or tea towels and colmans mustard powder to make a hot mustardy....plaster?! To put on my chest and it worked like magic for a chesty illness.

DD is only 17 months but I just let her sleep.on me when she's sick and give her homemade chicken broth (if she'll eat)
