Cancelled Coding Club - AIBU?

Hi all,

I joined my dc year 1 into coding club this September at school (run by external provider) which was offered for 1 term and cost roughly £90. Since DC is enjoying it, I fully intended to re-enrol dc for next term, however I have just received an email saying they are no longer running it for KS1 and only continuing KS2.
I am fuming because I would not have signed up for this in the first place if I knew there was no scope for progression.

AIBU?

There were quite a few complaints mid term about the standard of quality during the sessions which was quickly rectified however they did admit that the age group 6-8 year olds were difficult to manage. I feel that they now realise they have bitten off more than they can chew due to the age and this is why they have decided not to continue KS1.

I feel like I’m within my rights to ask for a refund however I am feeling very emotional (other reasons) right now so I don’t know if I am being unreasonable.

Please tell me what you think?

TIA

How can you ask for a refund if youve had the lessons you've paid for? Maybe your child can do some coding at home, if they want to do more, or with a different provider.

They can rejoin again a bit later when they are older - children's activities often start and stop, and become unavailable - it happens

Your child has done the one term you paid for. On basis could you possibly request a refund?

GoldenCagedBird · 22/12/2022 00:24

This is normal. They wouldn’t have thought to explain.

Schools don’t have the space or capacity to run clubs for every age group, especially if it’s more than one form entry. It’s common for the ‘A’ classes’ clubs to stop and then the ‘B’ classes get a go, or to alternate between KS1 and KS2.

You of course can’t ask for a refund for lessons you have had.

try hour of code for the meantime

YABU. He enjoyed it. You got what you paid for. Stuff closes all the time for a variety of reasons. You haven’t been cheated out of anything.

It’s disappointing but not grounds for ‘fuming’.

Er you haven't paid for next term yet so won't need a refund. I don't see why you're fuming. Your son had a club for a term he enjoyed! He's only little. There's lots of fun apps you can get if you want. But otherwise leave until he's older

Have you tried beavers/squirrels whatvwe it is that age
