Hi there need some advice please. My formula fed son is nearly 6 months old. 4 days ago I introduced porridge an hour after his first bottle. Its now been over a week since he has pooped. He does the odd trump sometimes and is still weeing normally but I'm worried as its never been this long, usually he poos every 4-5 days. Please can someone advise. Thank you!

We were advised by the gp to give some watered down orange juice to try to help things along but that was about ten years ago so advice might have changed. Are you giving him drinks and other food or just porridge and formula?

Ah okays. It's literally just formula and porridge mixed with formula he's having. Not sure if I should stop the porridge for the minute until he's pooed?

I'd stop the porridge , this happened with my baby when I introduced solids.
Once baby is back to popping regularly you can reintroduce.
When you reintroduce try adding a small bit of prune puree to the porridge help keep things moving.
Diluted apple or orange juice helped my baby go.

You are effectively giving him food mixed with food and nothing to drink! If you are giving him food he needs water too. No wonder he is bunged up. Mix the porridge with normal milk or water and give him veggies or fruit.

Normal tap water is fine. No need to boil it

Give him water along with the porridge.

Give him water but orange juice does work really well
