Toddler ate airpod pro

We are waiting in the ER. She seems fine and is ironically (or uninronically) dancing to the music on the TV.

I put my airpod pros on a shelf I thought my 1 1/2 yo couldn’t reach. But while I was doing dishes she pulled the coffee table over climbed it and grabbed the case. As I turned to check on her she had one in her mouth. I rush over to pull it out but, to my horror, she decides to swallow it. 🥲🥹

I’m looking for moral support. 😅 The waiting rooms here are a nightmare so we might be here for a bit. I’m hoping they will tell us that we can just let nature take its course.

I used to put her in the pack n play while I did dishes but she is big enough that she just flips it over now!

Those airpods were very expensive but I’m not too upset. Husband got them for me for christmas overs 2 years ago I think. Maybe I can convince him to get me a beats headset. Seems less likely to be eaten! 🫣

I hope your daughter is ok

nicknamehelp · 18/12/2022 07:22

Hopefully they will see her soon with a plan of action. Be a story to tell.

Thelondonone · 18/12/2022 07:23

Basically you’ll just need to check her poo. They’ll just check it’s actually reached her stomach. It will be fine.

I’d reorder whilst you wait. Apple delivery dates now after Christmas

she’ll be fine btw

PostAndGhost · 18/12/2022 07:33

Most likely they will go through but given the odd shape, you will well in going to the ER. You will give staff a good story to talk about during Christmas lunch!

ExpensiveOops · 20/12/2022 16:38

Just an update. We let nature take its course and she somehow successfully pooped out the airpod. Mind you tearfully. We will be more careful from here out making sure there is nothing she can crawl up on when I’m doing dishes and trying to eliminate small objects from the shelves. 🥴 Not sure it’s possible to to make everything entirely baby proof but we definitely don’t want this happening again. Trying to see if there is a way to coordinate doing dishes while husband is off work but that will be a bit restrictive making cleaning a bit more challenging but if it will prevent another hospital visit then I think it might be worth it.

Ow!

RampantIvy · 20/12/2022 16:42

Could you maybe invest in a lockable cash box or something similar that you can put small objects in if you don't have anywhere to put them out of reach?

Megapint · 20/12/2022 16:45

Does it still work?. I washed my sons jeans & his air pods were still in the pocket. Amazingly they came out fine

Andsoforth · 20/12/2022 16:51

It’s an awful age when they are so much more capable of mischief and mayhem but not easily intimidated or bribed yet!

My housekeeping standards plummeted at this stage but they do grow up! I promise!

idonotmind · 21/12/2022 14:09

These reponses have made me laugh: reorder now for delivery before Christmas hahha.

Glad she's ok op!

Might she need a Band Aid?

CalmConfident · 21/12/2022 14:11

But did they still work…?

Martialisthebestpup · 21/12/2022 18:11

Get a dishwasher. Cheaper than having to replace airpods all the time.

Findyourneutralspace · 21/12/2022 18:14

I want to know if it still works too - and what’s on the playlist

We did not try to find out if they still work. Sorry to disappoint. We threw it away as soon as it was confirmed to be in one piece. 😂

Could have been quite useful, do airpods have Find me feature?

Your comment brings me comfort. I was wondering if I was there was some secret parenting strategy to getting chores done at this awkward between stage of independence but lack of restraint. lol. I will do my best to find time to do the dishes but try to forgive myself if it doesn’t all work out right away.

This isn’t a bad idea! We will look into this. Thank you for the suggestion! 😃
