Toilet training- no successful potty trips yet?

Trying to train my nearly all 2 and 9 month DS, 2 days in and we haven't had one successful wee in the potty.

I'm encouraging him to sit on the potty every hour, asking him if he needs a wee, talking about his body telling him he needs a wee etc. He instigated this by saying he didn't want nappies anymore. He tells me as soon as he's had a wee but haven't been able to do it in the potty yet.

I read about children being almost dry in a couple of days... Do I just need to be more patient?

Thanks

Try ditching the potty and going straight to the toilet.

He’s probably too big for a potty at nearly 3.

my ds was 3.6 when we tried and my god, it took FOREVER!!!

hes 5.6 now and it’s only very recently he’s not having daily accidents

Thanks all. The light had gone out in our toilet and I didn't have a bulb so was avoiding the loo until it was fixed.

Since my first post we've had a potty and a toilet wee. Tomorrow I'll ditch the potty unless an emergency and focus on the toilet instead.
