Morning after pill whilst breastfeeding

Hi, I am 15 weeks postpartum and exclusively breastfeeding. We had unprotected sex and have been given the morning after pill, Levonorgestrel from the pharmacist. The pharmacist actually said there is no risk of me being pregnant (pretty sure there is always a risk 🤦🏻‍♀️) but also said not to breastfeed for 8 hours after taking it so didn’t take it at the pharmacy for this reason and I’ve brought it home. I know the quicker you take it the more effective it is.

Has anyone had any experience of taking this pill whist breastfeeding? What did you do?

On the other hand, has anyone got pregnant whilst breastfeeding? I have researched the LAM contraception method - baby is under 6 month, feeds every 3 hours even during night and I haven’t actually had a period yet.

Very undecided with what to do and just wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation before? We do want another baby but not this close together 😂 but then also don’t want to expose my little one to hormones in his breastmilk unnecessarily

also - I checked my LH levels today and yesterday and I have had no surge.

xx

Hello,

Can I ask what you did in the end? I had the same predicament recently and ended ip taking it, only managed to interrupt breastfeeding for 4 hours…
