Hello,

Those of you that may have got a second hand chicco next to me crib:

did you replace the mattress with a branded Chicco Next to Me mattress (same as original) or a non branded one. If non branded how did you know it was appropriate/safe?

Any particular brand reccomendations?

TIA

I went with the Chicco branded one from John Lewis so I knew it would definitely fit.

I got a non branded off amazon and frankly my dd appeared to prefer it

I think you should stick to branded if you can.

I had a next to me for DS and using it again for my twins but bought a new mattress as it's recommend for each new baby. I got mine for about £50 from Argos.

As long as you get a new mattress that fits it does not matter.

I've just ordered this: chiccospares.co.uk/chicco-next-2-me-replacement-mattress-1594-p.asp

It's the mattress, the board, and the cover it sits in. The crib is ours, but it's been in storage for two years and smelt damp. The fabric of the crib has been steam cleaned professionally and also washed twice on a hot wash by me just for peace of mind and it's fine, but I wasn't comfortable using the mattress or board again, given the possibility of damp.

The one of the Chicco spares website is the same cost as the Argos and John Lewis one but comes with the board and cover too, so I ordered from there.
